Games as chores?

I recently took stock of all the games I’ve got sitting around the house that I just never finished. Some got started on the PC and then I allowed my attention to be torn away toward some new release on the DS. Some titles, unfortunately, I just got bored with. For fun’s sake, let’s take a tour of the un-done:

PC:

  • Portal (actually started this back up the other day, good times)
  • HL2 Episodes 1 and 2

Wii:

  • Zelda Twilight Princess
  • Zelda Wind Waker (I know it’s a Gamecube title… playing it on the Wii)
  • Super Paper Mario

DS:

  • Final Fantasy III
  • Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings
  • The World Ends With You (actively playing, ridiculously good)
  • Professor Layton
  • Phoenix Wright
  • Zelda Phantom Hourglass
  • Puzzle Quest
  • Children of Mana
  • Trauma Center (holy hard game, batman!)
  • Metroid Prime Hunters

There you have it.

Now, I’m sure I’ll finish most of these games eventually… but I’m amused by the fact that I feel this chore-like obligation to finish all of them; even though they are forms of entertainment. What’s up with that? I suppose I could look at it this way… I’m just savoring each title over a long period of time?
